The Artist's Gloss

Keith Parkinson painted the future as a place you would want to be stranded: chrome and brass, heroines in cut-away suits and capes, and a nebula positioned precisely for dramatic lighting. His cover girls for Startling Stories and Thrilling Wonder Stories taught the spinner rack to dream in primaries.

This wing borrows that gouache-and-airbrush gloss, the one that sold a million magazines off the newsstand.

The Port

The Silver Gate is this wing's set: a sunset launch pad with finned chrome rockets, a hospital ship with green signal lamps, an observatory dome open to the nebula, and a terminal where the arrivals board never lies.

Every plate stays on the port. The lighting changes; the boarding call does not.
